More Jerry Sandusky bashing, life could end at any moment, spreading HIV, and a Latin King

The world in which we live is not so bad. I have been whiney in the past few blogs but there is no reason to be upset.  My issues are so minor in the scheme of things.  I look at those kids involved in the Sandusky case, and I sympathize with them because they will never have their innocence.  Their lives will be affected forever.  And now Sandusky said in an NBC interview with Bob Costas that he is innocent of all charges which is sickening.  If Sandusky had any integrity left at all he would apologize to these kids and admit guilt.  He admitted to horsing around with them which is an absolute joke.  There are accounts of oral sex, Jerry, seen on multiple occasions.  I hope he goes to one of the biggest gang affiliated prisons and the guards let it slip on what he's in for to these thugs and even if he is in an isolated unit, I want it to happen like the scene in American History X where the guard leaves the shower room for a small period of time, and this group of guys can rape him to a pulp and beat him to near death.  Then I picture blood mixed with water from his lip and cheek going down the drain as he struggles to move and he begins to drown in an inch of water.  That's just what I'm hoping.  Chances are he will never receive a punishment to fit a crime so heinous as this.

Life is so short.  You never know when your last breath could be.  I had a friend lose a friend to suicide yesterday and it hit hard because I was in a silly little argument with a different friend of this friend, and it became so pointless after hearing this friend's news.  There are more important things in life than staying mad at someone.  Stay polite, even to your enemies.  There is good in everyone (except Sandusky and people like him) and sometimes people bury it to act hard or to fit in, but search for it inside your enemies because the reason you are enemies can't be as serious as life and death in most circumstances.  A lot of people argue for something and it ruins their friendship and 6 months later someone asks about it and they can't even remember what the fight was over.  Just apologize and get over it.  Don't talk behind people's backs either.  Please. Say only things you'd say to the person if they were present.  Be good to everyone and try your best not to leave mad, because what if that is the last time you see them?  No closure.

I promise I will get back to more light and funny stuff tomorrow.

Winner of the Day: Anyone who said 'no' to having sex with Andre "Gangsta of Love" Davis.  Yes that's his real nickname.  I don't think it is the NFL wide receiver or linebacker, Andre Davis.  The reason you win if you didn't have sex with the Gangsta of Love is because he has HIV and failed to disclose it to at least 12 women.  Gosh he is a gangster of love isn't he?  Wilt Chamberlain isn't impressed but that's just the 12 that came forward.  This charge could send him to prison for over 100 years.  Let's face it, the dude has HIV.  He won't last that long in jail.  If anyone has the ability to live that long, I don't think it's someone with HIV. The Story.

Loser of the Day: A head shop.  Some girl's boyfriend and an old owner of the store drugged this girl with fake marijuana and bath salts.  They then hid her in a laundry basket inside a closet.  She was hidden for over 12 hours until a customer saw her. The Story.
Here's Douglas Goins, the victim's boyfriend who is charged with this crime...

Latin Kings mugshot of the day: Jeremiah Farmer. The Latin Kings are one of the most notorious gangs in America.  I'd like to see Sandusky attempt to fondle this dude.  He's too skinny to probably do anything, but it's a matter of his affiliations.

Do The Right Thing.

To my readers,

Due to a rough weekend, my mind is not concentrated on a blog, and the Bengals lost to the Steelers too, which doesn't help.  All I have to say is I'm glad I do the right thing.  With all of this Penn State stuff in the news now, ethics and morals have been hot topics.  I want you to know on this earth I live my life in a way that if I were to drop dead right now, I'd be content with the way I lived.  I am loyal.  If I ever tell someone I have their back, I always will.  Whether you are right or wrong.  I may tell you that you are wrong and put in my 2¢ (Thank you anonymous 0162) but even if you are involved in something I don't agree with I will still support you.  I put everything I have into my friendships.  Those of you who are close to me know this.  When you become my friend, it is my responsibility to defend you when you aren't around, and sometimes this may get me into trouble with people who flex their muscles and threaten me, but you know, it takes a real man to forgive.  Life is too short to be angry at someone for something like this.  I have to do what is right.  It's how I was raised.  There is so much wrong with this world.  So much gossip, so much of people saying things behind other people's backs.  Not too many are straight forward anymore.  If I were to die today, I'd go to the grave knowing I can live with myself for being the best person I could possibly be.  Sure living this way, sometimes people will get hurt.  I never want enemies, but sometimes it is necessary for the betterment of an innocent friend.  I will not back down.  I have made mistakes in the past, but I will not regret.  I will learn from them and move on.  I feel sorry for no one, nor will I regret anything I've done.  I will always be willing to forgive, as long as you are willing to forgive me if I shall be wrong.  One's character is all one has.  Please don't sell out.  Please do the right thing.  It isn't that hard.  And it's easier to sleep at night.  Follow morals and do what is ethically right.  Be responsible.  We can't all be Peter Parker, but we can all be good.  Be a good friend.  Don't be bullied.  Have a heart.  And call a friend if you are in a bind.  Be that friend when someone calls you.  Make this world a better place.
                                                                              Sincerely,
                                                                                             David Brooks

Relationship Advice Column Edition 7: Letting Go, and 3 Stages in 3 years

Today, I will write about letting go. How long must it take to get over your ex?  Well Charlotte from Sex and the City addresses this in the Take me out to the Ballgame episode...She says, "It takes half the total time you went out with someone to get over them."

This is fairly true.  I mean if you went out with someone a month, it is supposed to take two weeks to get over it according to this theory or if you date a year, I guess you are supposed to take a whole six months to get over someone.  Charlotte's quote is something I've preached to many girls over the years as they came to me with advice on feelings they still have for their exes.  Of course, there are exceptions.  If you are in a relationships where you don't have feelings for the other person, or you are with them just because you feel sorry for them (which you should never do so please don't stay with someone just because you feel sorry for them.  Someone very close to me had a relationship that lasted at least 6 months longer than it should have because she felt sorry for him when he fed her a sob story every night), it will take less time to get over the person.  In long term relationships like 20 year marriages that end in divorce is also an exception.  Never should you sit around for 10 long years getting over the guy.  First of all you are older and deserve to find love so get to it.  I'm not saying the day you become free go to a bar and pick up a dude, it will still take time, but not 10 years worth of time.

My longest relationship was a little over three years.  I always say the first year is the PUPPY LOVE STAGE and there will be small arguments maybe but nothing truly disastrous unless someone turns out to be someone they aren't or cheats then the puppy love stage can end quickly along with the relationship.  The second year, you really get to know the person, the KEEPIN IT REAL STAGE. The little things will begin to irritate you and even just the person's voice is intolerable or other nit picky things like that. This stage is tough to get through.  If you've done it, congratulations.  It's like the terrible 2's.  The third year is called the CAN WE REALLY DO THIS STAGE.  A lot of couples will find themselves going through the motions of a relationship in this stage.  They will go out to dinner with no magic, and the dude will invite the girl to a movie and she'll be like "ehh."  This is the time when you have to make a decision is this something you want to pursue.  Arguments may get stronger especially if the person isn't for you.  If you are just going through the motions in this stage, the relationship should end now.  There comes a time when you have to cut the string when you don't see a future.  It's not fair to you or the other party involved to drag the relationship on.  It's always best to end a relationship sooner rather than later when you know it's not right because you are lying to yourself and the other person if you stay with them and it just gets harder as time goes on.

Anyway, my longest relationship was a little over three years, and I literally was devastated the first year.  I was in love.  She was in love.  We mutually ended the thing, but I think it hit both of us pretty hard.  It's okay if you are in something serious for a while to take your time to get over the person.  It's almost not even fair to jump into a relationship with someone else if your heart if even .000009% is stuck on you ex.  If they are cool with it, they have to understand there will be relapses of moments where you miss the ex or whatever because as Charlotte said, it takes half the time.  It should never take over half.  If that's the case you still love the ex, good or bad.  It depends on the situation on whether I'd advise to go back on it. Let go within half the time.  Give yourself a limit.  Don't live the rest of your life watching Beaches (although it is a good movie) with tissues and Ben and Jerry's.  Life's too short for that.  Get out there and live.  No guy/girl is worth moping over for good.  Not one.  Not even me. Well, maybe me.

Penn State did the Right Thing

Quote of the Day: ‎"It is curious that physical courage should be so common in the world and moral courage so rare."-Mark Twain

Today I was going to write about the use of "we" when referring to sports teams you root for and I may still write about it tomorrow, but I have to lead with yet again, the Penn State University scandal. Penn State's trustees fired the president of the university and the head football coach Joe Paterno, last night.  It had to happen though.  Yesterday, Paterno said he'd step down at the end of the season, but if Penn State hadn't gotten rid of him now, then it would be hard to say the college is handling this the right way.  Joe Paterno is a legend at Penn State.  He's coached for more than 60 years.  All of that means nothing in the whole scheme of life, you know.  He wasn't buying students strippers, boats, and cars like in Miami.  He wasn't housing a football star like at USC.  He wasn't turning a blind eye to trading jerseys for tattoos like at Ohio State.  Those were huge stories in the college sports world, but this crosses over.  This isn't a sports story.  It is a story of life.  Joe Paterno had to go.  The president had to go.  Everyone involved has to go.  You are talking about at least 9 kids that were alleged  (you know what I'm not even going to use the term alleged in this instance) taken advantage of and their childhood and lives were ruined.  These are someone's children.  You let this guy rape children on your watch in your buildings.  It is not right.  This is the worst story in sports history.  I don't know how you let this happen.  Don't blame it on your surperior..."Uhh I passed it on. Not my problem anymore." Joe. There is something called morals.  Do what is morally right.  I couldn't just sit there and turn a blind eye to this.  I'd struggle with it every day until I did something.  He only cared about football, and you know what, that is unacceptable.  They needed heads to roll and Joe branded himself as Penn State so he has to take responsibility for something so cruel.  I don't understand why people rioted.  The NCAA was talking about giving Miami the 'death penalty' for what happened down there.  I think Penn State should be punished worse than that.  I don't think they should be allowed a football team period after what happened.  Kind of like how we don't allow Germany or Japan to have a military.  What parent is going to want to sent their son to play for that school anyway?  And with the alleged word, this thing has been going on for 10 years and the guy definitely did it.  If you've read my blogs before I've mentioned that I believe strongly in innocent before proven guilty and if there is reasonable doubt at all you should be acquitted (Casey Anthony and Ryan Widmer both are guilty in my opinion but should have been acquitted because there is reasonable doubt).  This is different.  This is a series of crimes that could have been stopped.  I am ashamed to have ever rooted for Paterno, especially within the 10 years he knew about this stuff and let this guy bring kids around the program.  It's sickening.  I lost all respect for the man.  I have read the book, Something for Joey which shoes coach Paterno in a very bright light so I've always liked him and respected him as a coach. Through it all, don't forget about the victims here.  It s easy to forget about them and none of this will give them back their innocence no matter how many people get fired from Penn State.  Poor kids. Poor poor kids.

Horrible News Stories, Deaths come in Threes, and a Real Life Ringer Story

The world we live in has been crazy lately.  Bieber may be a father.  I haven't kept it a secret on how I feel about that.  Michael Jackson's doctor was convicted of killing the guy.  I was on the doctor's side for a lot of this story and then I found out he was only Michael's doctor for two months. Then I was like, yeah he's probably guilty although it's not his fault for Michael being all drugged up in the first place.  I will say this, there is reasonable doubt in this case, so he should have been acquitted.  I don't know how people can send people to prison when there is reasonable doubt.  It makes no sense to me.  What if you are sending an innocent person to jail?

Anyway, the Penn State news is getting worse and worse.  The whole cover up is pathetic and it is the worst story I can remember about anything related to sports, except for maybe the Olympics where hostages were taken, and you can still argue this is worse because of people knowing this went on and innocent children were overlooked to protect a pedifile.  Joe Paterno's hands are dirty.  Sixty years of work and an amazing career is going to be tarnished.  These guys for covering it up are just as wrong as Sandusky.  This is the lowest scum of the earth.  It's hard to even hear the details.  They are so disturbing.  Everyone from the president on down is responsible and should be punished accordingly.  I have no more respect for that University.  They make Ohio State, USC, and Miami look like clean programs.  It's so pathetic to prey on kids and then to cover it up and let it go on for over 10 years when it could've been taken care of in 1999?  I can't believe it.

Now an awkward transition.  We lost three awesome celebrities: Andy Rooney, Joe Frazier, and Heavy D.  Deaths come in threes.  Someone old (Rooney), someone sick (Joe Frazier, liver cancer), and someone sudden (Heavy D).  All three were part of my life.  I spoke of Smokin' Joe yesterday.  Andy rants about random stuff like I do all the time in these blogs.  He's kind of an inspiration.  My favorite quote of his is this: "I try to look nice. I comb my hair, I tie my tie, I put on a jacket, but I draw the line when it comes to trimming my eyebrows. You work with what you got." Is this not true?  Just play the cards you are dealt.  Anyway, about Heavy D.  I loved that guy.  I loved his flow and his look and listening to his songs brings me back.  It's a shame to see him gone.

Winner of the Day: Apparently there is a possibility that ancient civilizations from 5,000 years ago had fast food windows, which is awesome.  They are unsure if that is a fact but if it is, I love it. Read it.

Loser of the Day: The 2000 Spanish paralympic team. Why? Read this from the amazing fact generator. It's like The Ringer in real life, only no Jimmy.
Perhaps one of the lowest moments in sports history was perpetrated by the members of the 2000 Spanish Paralympic basketball team. After the team snagged a gold medal, it was revealed that 10 of the 12 players had never been tested for disabilities and were, in fact, not handicapped.

Go Vote, Joe Frazier dies, and Top 5 boxing movies (Rocky not included)

So there are people standing downtown looking ridiculous as walking billboards, so that must mean only one thing: it is election day.  I encourage you all to vote.  Ever since I was 18 I have voted in every election I possibly could, presidential or not.  If you don't vote that's okay, but I better never hear you complain about politics.  You could have made a difference but you didn't go so you have to live with the results.  Plus I don't like talking politics anyway so that's something I'm cool with.  If you are in Ohio, voting is more important for you terrible drivers.  You have to vote on that ridiculous street car thing or whatever and Issue 2 which we all know my stance on that from a previous blog.  Look back in the archives if you want to see.

Smokin' Joe Frazier passed away from liver cancer last night. ESPN's story.

He will forever be known as the rival of one Muhammed Ali.  Remember the, "Down goes Frazier" call?  Yeah that's about this guy.  Joe was one bad man.  He is a legend in his own right and without Frazier Ali wouldn't be the legend he became.  Larry Bird had Magic Johnson.  Tom Brady has Peyton Manning (except for right now with that neck issue that may be career threatening).  Ali had Frazier.  Rivalries are what makes sports worth watching.  I'm a Kentucky fan.  Imagine if Louisville didn't have a team.  Kind of boring huh?  And what about the Bengals this week playing the Steelers.  Imagine if it was just another week.  You can't.  That's how Frazier was to Ali.  I used to always play this game called Greatest Heavyweights on Sega Genesis.  It had all the legends from Foreman to Joe Louis to Ali to Marciano.  I would always pick Frazier.  He had a mouth on him in that game and he'd always call his opponent a pansy and as a kid I thought it was like a bad word so it was the coolest thing ever.  The way the announcer called out "SMMMMOOKIN' JOE FRAZZZIER" was really awesome too.  I remember creating people on that game was really cool because you could make green or purple people and the training in that game required lots of discipline.  They need a game like this on one of the newer systems.  Anyway rest in peace big guy.  There is a ring with golden ropes in Heaven and you have a head start on training because you know Ali will be there trash talking before you know it.

In honor of Joe, my top 5 favorite boxing movies of all time (This list excludes all Rocky movies).

5. Ali. Will Smith thought he was the real Ali in this film.  Not the best movie ever made but it did have its moments and Joe Frazier is featured a couple of times so I had to add it to the list.

4. Raging Bull.  Robert DeNiro was in it back before he was in all of those stupid comedies.  It's a real life story which most boxing movies are and is filmed in black and white to give it an artistic feel.

3. The Fighter.  This I had high expectations for but it didn't really live up to them.  We've just seen this story way too many times: boxer has rough life, hits some hardships, goes from being an underdog to winning the whole thing. Christian Bale is awesome in it, so that alone makes it worth seeing.

2. Cinderella Man.  Remember all the stuff that I just talked about in The Fighter, well that all happens to this guy during the great depression.  Russell Crowe thinks he's awesome too so just put him in a cocky boxer role.  It's hard to watch with the ugliest woman in Hollywood being in the film (Renee Zellweger).

1. Million Dollar Baby.  This is one of my top 10 favorite movies. Period.  Heads and shoulders above all of the other boxing movies.  It's a heart breaker.  It's a Clint Eastwood film.  Morgan Freeman is in the darn thing.  Just watch it and you'll love it.  It is a Best Picture winner.

Winner of the Day: Cincinnati Police. In Walnut Hills they threw a block party to encourage people it was okay to come out after the gang busts they had.  One of the alleged gang members showed up, however. Read More Here.

Loser of the Day: Jerry Sandusky and the entire Penn State athletic department.  I mentioned this yesterday but it's so grotesque it needs to be said again.  The dude used to be a coach on the football team.  He left in 1999, came back to run a child program or whatever and it was found he was raping boys in the shower and Penn State covered it up.  Wow.  Can't get any lower than that. Here's an article a former player of his, LaVar Arrington wrote.

Nothing to Complain About, Bieber, the Dream Team, I believe Monday

It's hard to write a blog when there's nothing really to complain about.  I could complain about 2 top officials at Penn State stepping down after covering up a child sex abuse scandal of a former defensive coordinator which is just sick and goes much deeper than sports.  Read it here.  I could complain about Ohio drivers and the fact that no one knows the difference between a hammer lane or a slow lane on this side of the river.  I could complain about the Bengals sucking and how they need a GM.  Wait a minute.  I can't.  Mike Brown actually had a great draft and made a great trade...Carson as a Raider--6 picks.  I could complain about how Justin Bieber is supposed to be a "role model" but he's having sex back stage in a bathroom like he's Tommy Lee or something.  Wait, Tommy Lee would even find a bathroom trashy.  And did she sleep with Bieber while he had that butch lesbian haircut?  If so, this chick is into...well...chicks. He apparently is ready to take the paternity test and then sue the chick who is accusing Bieber to be the father, but I don't think this is a bad thing for Biebs.  It kind of gives him a little bit of "cred" to break into the adult R&B market.  I guess Usher truly is his idol.  I could just see Usher listening through the bathroom door as Bieber, screams, "Baby, baby, baby, OHHHHHH!" and as quickly as it began it was over like his career's about to be.  The dude's voice changed so badly he can't even sing songs to promote that Christmas album he made.  Today marks the 20th anniversary of Magic Johnson announcing he has H.I.V.  I can complain about a lot, but I'm thankful for my health.

I believe that you should live your life the way you want to live it.  I believe you should take chances.  I believe when you get a chance, go out and see the world.  I believe that there is good in every person even when others can't see it.  I believe The 1992 Dream Team was the best basketball team ever assembled.  I believe the designated hitter needs to stay in the American League though I can't stand it.  I believe in baseball players wearing socks to their knees.  I believe in second chances and you should try everything twice.  I believe Morgan Freeman should voice my biography if I ever become famous. I believe in Heaven. I believe in being nice.  I believe making people smile is why I was put on this planet.

Winner of the Day: Some worker at the Dent Drive Thru.  Some dude came through his drive through and tried to rob him.  He just closed some doors and fled the scene.  He called the cops and the guy fled the scene.  What a stupid criminal.
